Maintello Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Maintello is a home maintenance planning app operated by Tech Wave Innovations. This Privacy Policy explains how Maintello handles information when you use the app and website.

2. Short version

Maintello is designed to be local-first. For the first release, the app does not require account registration and does not rely on a cloud user profile. Your home profile, maintenance plan, completed task history, document records, reminder preferences, and JSON backups are stored on your device unless you choose to export, share, or back them up using services outside Maintello.

Maintello asks for location details so it can tailor schedules, postcode validation, guidance, and starter local price ranges. The app is designed to show city, region, and country rather than a full street address.

3. Information you may enter in the app

Depending on how you use Maintello, you may enter or create:

• Your first name, used for in-app greetings.
• Country, city or town, region, and postcode.
• Property type, number of bedrooms, and number of bathrooms.
• Selected home features, such as boiler, smoke alarms, solar panels, garden, EV charger, hot tub, heat pump, air conditioning, swimming pool, or fireplace.
• Maintenance tasks, due dates, snooze choices, completion history, notes, categories, and reminder preferences.
• Document and warranty records, such as document names and the date a record was added.
• JSON backup files that you choose to export or restore.

Maintello does not need a full street address for the current app experience. If you type a full address into a system search field, the app should use the location result to fill city, region, country, and postcode-style information rather than displaying the full address as your public in-app home label.

4. Where your app data is stored

The current Maintello app stores its main data locally on your device. This includes your home profile, plan, task state, reminder preferences, completed history, saved document records, and backup settings.

If your device uses Apple services such as encrypted iCloud device backup, Apple may include app data in your device backup according to your Apple settings. Maintello does not control Apple’s backup systems.

If you export a JSON backup, the file is created on your device. You are responsible for where you save or share that file. Anyone who can read the JSON file may be able to see the home details inside it.

5. Location search and postcode handling

Maintello uses country, city or town, region, and postcode-style details to tailor the experience. This helps the app validate postcode formats, present location-aware wording, and show Maintello starter estimate ranges in the relevant currency for supported countries.

The app may use Apple MapKit location search to help you select a valid city, town, region, or postcode. When you use Apple-powered location suggestions, your search terms may be processed by Apple according to Apple’s own privacy terms and policies.

Maintello does not currently operate a backend that stores full home addresses for admin access. We do not want administrators to have access to users’ full home addresses.

6. Notifications

Maintello can schedule local notifications for maintenance due dates and optional weekly summaries. These alerts are handled through Apple’s notification system on your device.

You can turn notification permissions on or off in your iPhone settings. You can also change due-date reminders and weekly summary settings inside Maintello.

7. Documents and warranties

Maintello lets you keep records of documents and warranties. In the current version, the app stores document names and record dates. The JSON backup includes these document records, but it does not include the actual document files themselves.

If a future version supports full document storage, document scanning, or document intelligence, this policy will be updated to explain what is processed, where it is stored, and whether any external service is used.

8. Ask Maintello and AI features

The current Ask Maintello feature is a guided help flow. It is designed to provide practical first steps based on selected topics and symptoms. It is not a full open-ended AI diagnosis service and does not currently upload photos for AI analysis.

If Maintello later adds real AI chat, photo analysis, document intelligence, or cloud processing, we will update this Privacy Policy before those features are released. The updated policy will explain what information is sent, why it is sent, which providers are involved, how long data is kept, and what choices you have.

9. Starter local price estimates

Maintello may show starter local price ranges for supported countries. These are indicative Maintello estimates, not live contractor quotes. Final prices depend on access, materials, urgency, property size, local labour rates, and individual contractor pricing.

Maintello does not currently send your address to a live contractor pricing marketplace to generate these starter ranges.

10. Website information

When you visit this website, standard technical information may be processed by hosting providers such as Cloudflare. This can include IP address, browser type, device information, pages requested, timestamps, and security-related logs.

This website does not need you to create an account. If you contact us by email, we will receive your email address and the contents of your message so we can respond.

11. How we use information

Maintello uses information to:

• Create and update your maintenance plan.
• Show relevant guidance for your property and selected features.
• Validate country-specific postcode formats.
• Display city, region, and country in the app.
• Schedule local reminders and weekly summaries if you enable them.
• Export and restore your local data if you choose to use JSON backup.
• Respond to support and privacy enquiries.
• Protect, maintain, and improve the website and app.

12. What we do not sell

We do not sell your home profile, maintenance plan, location details, document records, or support messages. We do not operate an advertising profile based on your home maintenance data.

13. Sharing and processors

Maintello may rely on platform or infrastructure providers to operate parts of the service, such as Apple for app platform features and notifications, Apple MapKit for location suggestions, Cloudflare for website hosting and security, and email providers for support communication.

These providers process information according to their own terms and privacy policies when their services are used.

14. Legal bases for UK and EEA users

Where UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

• Contract: to provide the app features you request.
• Consent: for optional permissions such as notifications where required.
• Legitimate interests: to maintain, secure, and improve the website and respond to support enquiries.
• Legal obligation: where we must keep or disclose information to comply with applicable law.

15. Retention

Local app data remains on your device until you delete it, reset the app, remove the app, or replace it by restoring a backup. Exported JSON backup files remain wherever you save them until you delete them.

Support emails may be kept for as long as needed to handle your request, maintain records, and meet legal or operational requirements.

16. Security

Maintello is designed to minimise unnecessary collection. Local-first storage reduces the amount of personal information held by us. However, no device, app, email system, or hosting provider can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.

You should protect your device with a passcode or biometric lock and keep exported JSON backup files somewhere private.

17. Your choices and rights

You can edit your home details in the app, remove or change selected features, change reminder settings, delete document records, export a backup, or restore from a backup.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, or request portability of personal information we hold about you. Because the current app is local-first, much of your app data may only exist on your own device.

18. Children

Maintello is intended for householders and adults managing home maintenance. It is not directed at children.

19. International users

Maintello supports several countries in the app experience, including the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Canada, Australia, and Nigeria. If you contact us or use the website, information may be processed in countries where our providers operate.

20. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes, when we add new features, or when legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted on this website with a new “Last updated” date.
